Mom Life: The Best Laid Plans

I had so much that I planned on doing and getting done last week. And then half of us got the stomach flu and that pretty much filled our entire week. Thankfully only half of us got it and we all made it through, but wow! Our house still shows that I didn't get much done in the housekeeping department for many days.

(Well, I did have a constant stream of gross laundry that was being processed. And I did thoroughly de-germify the entire house, so there is that. Oh and also, lots and lots of snuggles. Why are snuggles never on our to-do list? and did we ever make use of our Netflix!!)

So here it is a new week and we all seem to be healthy. I should really hit the ground running today, but I slept in and now that the big girls are off to school, I am typing this and planning on enjoying my second cup of coffee.

Ah, the mom life. Here's hoping that I find my motivation in one of the piles around the house and get at it

Sweetie at 9 Months

This little lady has had a developmental explosion the last month. She started really getting her army crawl on right after she turned 8 months. Then she would get up on her hands and knees, but not really go anywhere on them. Over the last two weeks she has started to hands and knees crawl. And now most recently she is pulling herself up. It has been crazy. The Mister was gone for an overnight trip and she had mastered pulling up while he was gone.
As demonstrated by these pictures, she rarely holds still!! Diaper changes are tricky for sure!!
We also just made the big switch to having her sleep in a crib in Shortcake's room. While I wouldn't have minded keeping her in the bassinet in our room for a bit longer, her movement made me worry about her safety in there anymore. Also, we are trying to get her to sleep a bit longer at night and we thought that not being right in with us might help. So far she is doing okay in the crib. The first night she rocked it in there and I was hoping that would do the trick, but since then she is up a few times a night. I am trying to be good about not bringing her in our bed when she wakes up at night. While that is super easy, it probably is time to wean her out of that habit.
At her nine month appointment she weighed in at 20# and is inches long. She has been doing really well with the solid foods. She really likes to eat.
Even though she is number four, I am still amazed at God's design for the human body and growth! She is still a little sweetheart. Super content and chill most of the time. (Although she is good about letting us know when she is sad. Just look at that face!!) She is such a great fit for our family!!

Catch Up:October Eddition

Whoa! I knew that it had been a while, but October?? Really? I have been missing this little space of mine on the web. And while it is hard to find blogging time with everything else I do in my day, I would like to try to find my groove here again. I love this platform for sharing my mind and documenting our little tribe. I know I can't promise any regular posts, but I want to give it a go again.
First off, lets see what happened in the month of October.
*We got a new-to-us van. It had been on our to-do list for a while. We had purchased our last van when Peachy was just a baby. The Mr knew what he wanted and how much he wanted to pay. He found what he was looking for on Craigslist and purchased it. It took some sweat equity to get it clean and ready, but we are now the proud owners of a Honda.

*We enjoyed some great outside time as we ended fall with some wonderfully warm days. (I can't wait to get back to green grass again!!)
*We've had our fair share of illnesses. For the most part they are just colds, ear infections, and minor annoyances. This little man did get hand, foot, and mouth, though. Thankfully he handled it like a champ. The Mr also had some sort of weird stomach issue in October that landed us in the ER for the first time as a married couple. Thankfully, he was able to get over it without too many problems.

*The Mr's parents blessed us with a big-kid free weekend at the end of October and we tackled cleaning the carpets and painting the living room and hallway, walls and ceilings. It made such a difference to get that paint on the walls and change out the window treatments. It made it feel so much more our style and our home.

*Once the Mr got the laminate flooring in the dining and front entry, we were able to do an over-haul on my sewing area. It is such a happy place for me to do my creating!!

*Of course Halloween was in there. The girls and I hit up their school's annual party the weekend before Halloween. Cream won first place in the costume contest for her age group with her crayon box. (The men folk stayed home as Shortcake was still in the thick of hand, foot, and mouth.) I took the four trick or treating to the downtown businesses and our church's trunk or treat.

*This sweet girl turned five months old. I will have to look at my camera to see if I actually took five month pictures or not. (Ah, poor Sweetie, we really do love and cherish you despite the lack of monthly pictures and posts.)
That's it for the highlight reel of October!
